I'm so glad when daddy comes home!

Lucas LOVES his daddy. He gets so excited when Ryan gets home. Sometimes we wait outside for him to get home and every car or scooter that drives by gets Lucas all excited and he says, "Dada!" I can't blame him, though. Ryan getting home is probably my favorite time of day too. Yesterday when Ryan got home Lucas climbed into his lap with a book. He loves to have his daddy read to him.

Another Hair Cut

Lucas's hair was getting out of control so it was time for another hair cut. Check out that mullet.

I think we may have gone a bit too short though; he's my little baby and he looks like a little man now. Every time I look at him I just see Ryan.

When life gives you...

Some of you may have noticed that Lucas has a rash on his face. He's had the rash for over a month now. We took him to the doctor and they're not totally sure what's causing it, but they think it's probably from a food allergy. Lucas has also been having intestinal problems lately so we've just decided to make the switch to soy milk and see if this helps at all. The problem is, we bought a brand new gallon of whole milk the day before we decided to make the switch.

Turns out... no problem at all. When life gives me milk, I make ice cream. I went to the store yesterday to get some soy milk, and picked up a few other ingredients, plus some I already had and here's what you get.

I decided to make three different types of ice cream. I made chocolate for Ryan, cause it's his favorite. Next I decided to do a spin on a raspberry ice cream recipe I have and do a triple berry ice cream. And last of all I made strawberry cheesecake ice cream which is my absolute favorite. Here's a picture of me adding the strawberries. Oh I get excited just seeing the strawberries!

I love fruit and cheesecake so this is just the best ice cream flavor ever. I've posted the recipe for this one before so you can go here if you want it. The chocolate recipe was just the one from the recipe booklet that came with the machine and it's a little too rich for me so I recommend you find a different one. The raspberry ice cream is amazing so I'm going to post the original recipe and if you'd like to play around with the fruit you can. Thanks to Cheryl for the recipe.

Raspberry Ice Cream

3-oz. pkg. raspberry gelatin
½ cup boiling water
10-oz. pkg. frozen raspberries, thawed and mashed
2 eggs
1 cup whipping cream
4-oz. pkg. instant vanilla pudding
2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups half & half

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Stir in mashed raspberries. Beat eggs; add whipping
cream, pudding mix, sugar and vanilla. Stir in raspberry mixture and half & half. Pour
into freezer container and freeze according to manufacturer’s directions. Makes 2 quarts.

And here are the finished products. The strawberry cheesecake looks pretty much the same as triple berry so I just did one picture. Switching to soy milk was never so yummy.

Shoes

Lucas loves shoes. He loves to wear his shoes cause it usually means he gets to go outside. He can say shoes. He brings us our shoes when it's time to go. And most of all, he loves to walk around the house in our shoes... especially my high heels.

We've all been sick for the last few days so we haven't really been doing anything exciting. I recently discovered that Lucas loves cuddling big stuffed animals, though.

And yesterday, to celebrate that I had a bit of an appetite after a day of feeling sick, I ate some homemade vanilla ice cream with peaches and raspberries on top. It was so yummy.

Finally Finished

I was working on a bunch of different projects at once, so this owl blanket was half finished for quite a few weeks. I finally got around to finishing it today and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with it.

I really like the stitching I chose for the border.

I'm going to try to get around to finishing my other baby quilt tomorrow so check back for more pictures.

Peach Pie

I decided to make a peach pie, but I did a little twist on the traditional pie and added a crumble topping. I used my dad's pie crust recipe. It's the best. I roll my dough out between two sheets of plastic wrap. This eliminates the need to flour the counter so you don't end up with too much flour in your dough; and it's a whole lot easier.

Perfect every time.

Then I made the peach mixture, and Lucas and I ate a bunch of peaches while we were at it. They are sooooooo yummy!!

While the pie was baking, Lucas got a hold of the camera and took a few pictures.

And then viola! Peach pie for breakfast. Okay, maybe I'll wait for lunch. Now I just need to make some vanilla ice cream to go with it.

Peaches

My grandma has a peach tree in her backyard full of ripe peaches, so Lucas and I went to pick peaches yesterday. Now I'm trying to decide what to make with these beauties. We might just eat them all before I have the chance to make anything. Lucas and I both had a whole peach to ourselves with breakfast. I didn't expect Lucas to eat a whole one by himself but when I checked his tray it was all gone. Any suggestions of what I should make before we gobble them all up?

Family Night at Trafalga

Last night we decided to go out and do something fun for family night. We have season passes to seven peaks, and those passes also get us free everything at Trafalga too. Wahoo!! So we went to the one in Lehi and has all the cool stuff and we went crazy. We went on the carousel.

We rode the airplanes.

We rode the roller coaster and the bumper cars. They also had little cars for the kids that you could just push them around in. This was Lucas's favorite activity. The other ones were a little too intense for him.

Then we topped off the night by playing a game of mini golf.

This was a little bit tricky since Lucas really liked to run on the courses...

And put the balls in the hole and then take them out again...

And then grab rocks and throw them in the holes too.

He is such a little trouble maker. But we still had a blast, despite the difficulties, and I'm pretty sure I won, so that's always fun. And it was free! Best family night ever.

New Obsession

Die cutting machines have been around for a while now, but up until recently I just didn't care a whole lot about them. They are just way too expensive and the practical side of me didn't allow my brain to dwell on them long enough to get myself into trouble. However, the practical side of me has been taken over in the last few months by fun project ideas and adorable caterpillars. Look how cute this little guy is.

I've been playing around with a friend's Cricut recently and made these cute baby shower invitations.

I'd be happy with pretty much any die cutting machine, but I think the Silhouette would be a good fit for my creative ambitions. Now I just have to wait for Christmas and hope a miracle happens. :)

Snipe

I don't know why but I just love this scene from Up. I think it's so funny when the old man is answering questions before he knows what's going on. It's just so perfect, I could totally see my grandpa doing this. This is also one of Lucas's favorite scenes. He always laughs so much when the bird starts playing with the little boy. Enjoy.

The Straw

Lucas has had the straw mastered for a while now, but I was just going through some old pictures and I wanted to post these. We love berry smoothies from Costco.
