We Bought a House!

Well this is the reason I haven't blogged in the last three months. We bought a house! I got super busy cleaning and packing and then more cleaning and unpacking and I just totally forgot about blogging. I'm going to try and go back and post a few things that have happened in the last three months, but really the biggest thing is that we bought this beautiful home and we couldn't be more excited!
I just love everything about it! The kids love having a bigger backyard and a playroom. And we are super close to the elementary school which is nice. We've been doing a few things to make the house our own, but it's pretty much already perfect. We have been having fun painting some rooms, which we've never been able to do before as renters. Now I just have to figure out how I want to decorate it so I can take some pictures of the inside to post. I'm pretty much in love, though!

Lucas's and Paige's New Room

We finally moved Paige into Lucas's room to free up the nursery for Logan.  We were really nervous to make the change, but so far it's actually been totally fine.  It took probably an extra 20 minutes to put them down the first night, maybe an extra 5 the second night, and the two nights since then they have gone right down.  Hopefully they keep this up.  Lucas was so sweet the first night.  He climbed in to bed with Paige to snuggle with her so she wouldn't be lonely.  They are so cute sometimes.

I really like their room, although I do wish I could do more with it.  It's hard to decorate with where the windows are placed.  I wanted to do something above the beds or at least on the wall between the beds, but there really isn't a place for it with the window there.  The room is a bit cramped too, but it works.

Here's Paigey's adorable tiny little bed.
And Lucas's cute bed.  I LOVE his sheets.
Like I said, it's a little cramped, but not too bad.
For right now all their clothes fit in this dresser.  Not sure what I'll do when Paige's clothes get bigger and take up more space.  Hopefully we'll have a bigger house by then.
And here's their play kitchen that they love.
A "P" for Paige and an "L" for Lucas.
I totally staged this for the picture.  It made me laugh to have it all set up like this.  :)
I love these pictures I took of Lucas and Paige that we put up on the wall.
We installed the baby monitor up in the top corner so we can pretty much see the whole room.  Comes in handy to see if Paige is staying in bed or not.
It's simple but I love it!

Baby Boy's Nursery

When I found out we were having a boy I started thinking about how I wanted to decorate the nursery and what I wanted his baby blanket to look like and this idea of an airplane applique quilt popped into my head. I looked at a couple different ideas on pinterest and then came up with my own design. It's always a bit tricky finding fabrics that you love, but I found some really cute ones. To do the applique part I cut out the different shapes and then sewed each of them onto the middle panel. This part wasn't too hard and considering how cute it turned out, I would totally do it again.
Lucas was very interested in the whole process and watched me make most of the blanket.
I'm so in love with how it turned out!
I used grey minky fabric on the back, and silky binding for the edges.  Both of my kids so far love the minky and the silky binding so I had to keep it up.
For decorating the rest of the nursery I wanted to do it as simple and cheap as I could. I used yellow fabric in the quilt so I could keep the yellow curtains I made for Paige. I already really liked the room for the most part, I just needed to change a few of the more girly things. I used airplanes as my theme. I kept some of the same art work that I had up for Paige, but I needed one that was a little more boyish and I wanted something that went with the airplane theme. I couldn't find anything I liked from the original artist so I just copied the same style and made my own. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out.
And here it is on the wall with the rest of the art work.
The only thing left to change was the mobile. I didn't think butterflies were the right way to go. I found some really cute ideas for airplane mobiles online, so I got some paper and made my own. I'm in love with how this turned out too! It's pretty simple but really fun.
Look at the cute little airplanes.
And here's pictures of the whole room.
Someday we'll change out the photo for one of the new baby, but for now it still has a picture of Paige.
And this hasn't really changed at all, but I have to have my comfy chair!
I really like all the little airplane elements I've added to the room.  And overall it was a pretty easy change from how it was before, but still really cute for a little boy.  I'm going to wait a while before I get any of the other boy stuff ready.  I want to keep Paige in the crib until we're ready to move the new baby from the bassinet, and we have a while before that happens.  It's hard for me to not move her and get everything ready right now, though.  I've really been nesting and I just want to get everything into place.

I can at least start planning out how I want Lucas and Paige's room to look.  Any ideas on how to do a cute room for a boy and a girl?

The Nursery

I feel silly that it has taken me this long to do the nursery post.  I kept thinking I had a bunch of stuff left to do, but then I sat down this morning and realized that all I had to do was hang the pictures and gather some other stuff into the room.  So I did just that and then took pictures.  I've had this room 98% done for like two months now.  Oh well.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.   I wouldn't mind getting a cute rug to go in here eventually but we'll see. Almost all of the stuff in here I made myself.  My first project was this cute butterfly chandelier.
I can post more details on that later.  It was pretty easy to make, although it did take quite a bit of time to cut out the butterfly shapes and glue everything together.  It was really inexpensive, though.

My next big project for the room was to make the curtains.
They are pretty simple, but I added a cute ruffle at the bottom to make them more girly.
I also made the quilt for the crib.  I did that quite a while ago but it's still one of my favorite parts of the room.
And now onto the room pictures.
Lucas wanted to help show off the room.
That picture doesn't actually say "Baby's Name".  I just wanted to illustrate what it will look like after she's born.  Right now it's just a boring empty frame.  Don't you love that cute little elephant?
And here is another one of my favorite parts of the room.
I'm so excited to finally have a fancy chair to rock the baby in.  Lucas had to make due with the crappy furniture we had as poor college students, but not this little girl.  I'm afraid she will be spoiled.

And of course the baby swing.  Lucas loves to come in and turn on the swing and the music.  He's really excited to put baby sister in there and then play around with it.
I still have to finish up a few things after she's born like put up her name, and maybe do a few pictures of her on some of the walls, but this is pretty much it for now.  I love to come in here and pull out her cute little newborn sized clothes and dream about how adorable and tiny she's going to be.  5 more weeks...

New Bedroom Set

We finally got a bedroom set after all this time of being married.  We actually got it a couple months ago but I've been slow to take pictures.  I love having our room look all put together.
And this part isn't really part of the bedroom set, but we put up a family picture so I wanted to include that too.

We finally have bedside tables.  We've been using chairs, boxes, book shelves... whatever we had on hand for the last 5 years.
I made this cute quote thing to spruce up my table a bit.
Oh and there has been one more addition to the room.
My neighbor is letting us use their bassinet.  Isn't it so cute?  I can't wait to put our little baby girl in there.  And I love having a cute room for us in the mean time.

The Backyard

I realized that I didn't include pictures of the backyard when I did pictures of the house last time, so I decided to take some pictures to post.  The backyard really is not big at all, but it's bigger than what we used to have, which was nothing.  Anything is better than nothing.  Lucas thinks it's pretty awesome, although, it's a good thing we have a real park nearby cause there is only so much you can do out here.
We got a little pool for Lucas to play in and he loves it.  It's the perfect way to spend that last hour of the day before daddy comes home and mommy is completely out of energy and ideas.
We have these big trees that block people from being able to see into our backyard and our house.  We love it.  And they are pretty.  We think they might be redwood trees.
And the biggest surprise of all is that there are rose bushes back here.  I LOVE roses.  They just started blooming this week and they are beautiful.
I'm excited to see what this one looks like when it has opened up.
I might try to plant a few more things back there next year, but for now I have enough to do getting the inside put together and pretty.  I have 75% of Lucas's room together, I just have to get a few more things done and then I can post pictures.
