Growing up

Our baby is just growing so fast. For the last few weeks he's been trying to figure out this whole crawling thing, but he was still doing the army crawl. On Sunday he figured out how to crawl on his hands and knees. Now he's a pro and he's all over the place. We're really starting to realize how much baby proofing we need to do.

And just today Lucas got his first tooth. Man that little thing is sharp! I put a close up in case you can't see it in the first one.

We've had such a busy last few weeks. We had a lot of snow too, which was fun, and also the death-cicles that always form outside our apartment.

We've also spent a lot of time getting ready for Christmas. Lucas loves to help wrap presents.

And the best part of these last few weeks was when we got to go to California for my brother John's wedding. A lot of my family have already posted so many pictures of the wedding so I'm going to try to limit the ones I put on here.

My brother got married on December 12th in the Oakland temple. The day before was my birthday so we had a pre-wedding/birthday barbecue. It was a lot of fun and Lucas got to meet all his California relatives that he's never seen before. Most importantly, his great grandparents.

And here was my birthday cake. It was some toasted almond concoction and it was absolutely amazing!!!

And then the wedding day. It was a beautiful ceremony.

And John and Becky were so cute!

It was raining while we were at the temple but it let up just long enough to take family pictures.

And I just wanted to throw this one in there. Lucas loves pulling hair, but especially his uncle Bret's hair.

And Ryan is taking his last final right now and then we'll be able to relax and enjoy spending Christmas with family.

Sick

Lucas is sick! We think he has the flu. He's getting over it now, but he was so sick this last weekend. He was pretty pathetic; it was so sad. He spent a lot of time whining and sleeping. Here he is sleeping on me.

And whining on me.

And we've had our first real snow of the season. Lucas was too sick to really care about it but I had to get a quick picture. I love my baby, even when he's sick he can still pose for the camera.

Lucas's First Christmas Tree

Our Black Friday steal this year was a new Christmas tree. When we got real trees Ryan would only let me get the shortest one, but now that we have a fake tree, it is tall and beautiful and I love it. Lucas loves it too. Mostly he just loves the lights...

And the crinkly wrapping paper.

And I'm not sure how this happened but I love it!

Decorating...
Playing...
(they look like they were caught doing something naughty...)

And here is the finished tree.

I'm so excited for Christmas!

Happy Thankgiving

We went to Tucson, Arizona to spend Thanksgiving with my family. We had a lot of fun spending time with family and eating yummy food. Lucas had attention 24/7 from aunts and uncles and cousins. His older cousin absolutely loved him and spent most of her day playing with him and keeping him entertained. Here she is reading him a book.

Doing a puppet show for him.

And crawling around on the floor.

We went to the Pima air and space museum. We ate lots of food for Thanksgiving dinner, but I forgot to take pictures of that. After dinner we went on a hike to work up an appetite for pie. We went to Madera Canyon. It was really pretty there and Lucas enjoyed being outside.

We borrowed this back pack carrier from my brother. Lucas loved it.

Then we woke up early the next morning to fly home. Lucas did better on this flight.

We had so much fun visiting family. Thanks for entertaining us. Happy Thanksgiving!

First Flight

How to take your first flight in style.

Step 1: Take a 3 1/2 hour nap right before the flight so you can make sure to be wide awake so you don't miss anything.

Step 2: Make your parents pack EVERYTHING you own. That way you can watch and laugh as they lug it all through the airport.

Step 3: Look around frantically at everything in the airplane. Refuse to sit still and scream if your parents try to make you. Try to nose dive to the floor if at all possible.

Step 4: Try to grab and spill the drinks that get served. Scream till you get your way.

Step 5: Scream some more.

Step 6: Have your parents walk you up and down the aisles so you can show yourself off to all the other passengers... just in case they didn't already know there was a baby on the plane.

Step 7: Terrorize the Sky Mall magazine.

Step 8: Arrive at destination and play with doting cousins.

Three Years

Ryan and I celebrated our three year anniversary yesterday. I can't believe it's been three years since we got married. It feels like time has flown by. And yet at the same time I feel like I've known Ryan for a lot longer than that. The last three years have been the happiest of my life. Ryan is so perfect for me in every way and I'm so grateful for him.

Since our anniversary was on a Wednesday, we didn't really get to start the celebrations till the evening after school and work were over. My mom is in town so we got to have her babysit for us. After I dropped Lucas off with his grandma Crapo, we came back to our apartment and watched Up. I really liked this movie. It was so cute and perfect for an anniversary. We sipped some sparkling pomegranate juice and filled in a crossword puzzle that I made with clues and answers from things that happened when we were dating and first married. It was so romantic. :)

Then Ryan took me out to dinner at Chef's table. He didn't tell me where we were going, only what time I needed to be ready and that I needed to dress up. I was so surprised. I thought maybe he was trying to trick me and we were going to show up at Wendy's in our nice clothes.

Dinner was delicious! I got shrimp and sea scallops, Ryan got a New York strip with blue cheese crumbled on top. Probably the most amazing part, though, was the salad. All they asked was what dressing we wanted, and when it came out, the salads were entirely different and both perfectly suited for the dressing we had ordered. Ryan said his salad was possibly the best salad he had ever had. Ryan told them it was our anniversary when he made the reservations so they had a private table in it's own little room reserved for us. It was such an amazing atmosphere. We had a lot of fun. Afterwards, we tried to get a picture of ourselves in front of the restaurant but after a few tries we gave up cause it was freezing cold. Here's one of the attempts.

And here is a good picture of the restaurant that I got off the internet.

Thank you Ryan for the wonderful night, and for the wonderful last three years.

Attempting to Crawl

I'm not sure if you could call this crawling, or maybe scootching? Whatever it is, Lucas is learning how to get what he wants. Unfortunately, he really only wants the HD video camera and daddy's other expensive toys.

I've got a feeling that this is just the beginning of his obsession with electronics.

Here's a video of him and Katie as he tries to get her camera:

I Made This

So, a month or two ago my ward had a sewing night and I met this girl in the ward that loves to sew. We talked about different projects that would be fun to do and we decided to make skirts. I had never followed a pattern before so she helped me out a lot. It was a lot of fun to learn a new skill and I'm so excited to have something new to wear. Here's the skirt I made. Ignore the pasty white legs.

I forgot to document the making of the skirt, but I have another idea for a new skirt so I'll document the making of that skirt and post it for you guys.

Playing with my Friend

Here are a few pictures I took a while ago when the weather was still warm. We just went to hang out at the park with Dallin. Lucas likes to hug/attack other babies.

Look at how sweet his face is. He's just giving him some love. :)
