This Happened

Can you tell what's missing?
While I was getting ready today, Lucas was playing with his daddy's electric razor, which he does all the time so I didn't really worry too much about it.  Then I looked over and saw him shaving off his eyebrow.  He told me he didn't want it anymore. I seriously can't stop laughing.  He looks ridiculous!  Good thing we're not taking family pictures anytime soon.

First Visit to the Dentist

Lucas had his very first visit to the dentist today.  We were honestly expecting a disaster.  Lucas hates people in general, and he especially dislikes doctors and people that try to touch him.  Pretty much anyone he doesn't know (or even that he does know) that looks in his general direction is his enemy.  Lucas does like brushing his teeth, but only because he likes the taste of the tooth paste, he isn't really great at letting us brush his teeth.  Anyway, so with all of these factors, we really thought this was going to be awful.

So we show up and we walk back to the chair and I just decide to make things easy and I sat in the chair and put him in my lap.  I was thinking we'd just have the hygienist show him a few tools and count his teeth and call it good.  Well, that's where we started, and Lucas was totally fine with everything so she just kept going. He sat there perfectly fine for having his teeth polished, she cleaned off a little bit of plaque with the scraper, and he even let her floss his teeth.  Ryan and I just sat there in amazement.  It could not have gone any better than it did.  It was incredible.
Look at those shiny teeth!

Stairs

Look who discovered the stairs.
She's even figured out how to get up the first stair.
She thinks she is so stinking smart.
She's going to be really mad when we put up the baby gate.

Train Museum

We went to the train museum in Sacramento around this time of year last year, and we got a membership because it was like $2 more to get the membership than it was for just one visit.  We thought we'd come so many more times and get lots of use out of it, but then we didn't and now the membership is almost expired, so we took an impromptu trip this last weekend so we could get our use out of the membership.  Lucas loved the trains just as much this year as he did last year.
We took this picture last year...
And here we are in front of the same train this year.  There have been a few changes over the last year.
We rode the train again this year, but this year we sprang for first class tickets.  We got to sit on couches instead of hard benches, and they served us cookies and lemonade.  It was awesome!
After we were all done with trains we ate at a cute little restaurant in Old Sacramento and then stopped by our favorite candy shop to get some salt water taffy.  It was a fun day.

First Swim of the Season

I know it's going to seem way too early to most of you for this post, but we've had some pretty warm days and Lucas wanted to fill our blow-up pool so we did.  Mostly I was just really anxious to put Paige in her swimsuit and take pictures.  Her swimsuit is like the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Look at her cute little bum and chubby thighs.
I like this shot of her because she's sticking her tongue out.  She actually does this A LOT, but it's because she gets it from me.  I did this all the time as a kid.
Here's Lucas and Paige playing in the pool.
Paige kept blowing raspberries on the side of the pool.
Overall I think she really liked it, she just crawled around and around in the pool until she got cold.  I think we have a fun summer ahead of us.

Videos and the Mail

Paige does some really funny and cute stuff so I've been trying to get videos to document all the adorableness.  Here's just a few.

The first is probably the most boring, but I feel like I always go off about what an angel Paige is and so I wanted to give you some proof.  Paige always wakes up so happy, she doesn't even usually cry when she wakes up, she just starts talking and crawling around.  I took this video this morning when she very first woke up.  Normally I would let her sit there and wake up a little bit before going in, and when I do that she has a little more energy and gets up and laughs when I walk in.  This morning, though, I went right in because she slept 11 hours without eating and I was ready for her to eat.  Anyway, like I said it's a little boring and a little long, but she's just so sweet.  This is Paige, first thing in the morning, and starving.

Paige has discovered those springy doorstops on the backs of doors and she loves to play with them.

This last video is of Paige's new favorite thing to play with - Lucas's big blue ball.  She gets SUPER excited when she sees it, as you can hear in the beginning before she crawls into view, and then she just goes crazy.  She is so funny!

And the last thing that Paige has been into lately is ripping up the newspaper and ads that we get in the mail.  She thinks it is hilarious.
Check out these action shots.
Lucas loves to join in.  He pretends he's a baby and rips the mail into these ridiculously small pieces that are impossible to clean up.  It's kinda annoying, but it makes him happy.

7 Months

Paige is closer to being a year than she is to being a newborn.  It's kinda weird.  I can't believe how big she has gotten.  I really like the stage that she is in right now.  She's has become very mobile and it's a lot of fun to put her down and watch her explore.  She'll be playing in the family room while I make dinner and eventually she'll find her way into the kitchen to get me.  Her smile is always so big when she finds me.  It is adorable!  The down side to her being so mobile is that she does not want to stay in one place anymore.  It is impossible to change her diaper or get her dressed.  Also impossible - taking her month picture!  She did not want to lay on her back.  She did a lot of this.
And a lot of this.
Eventually I gave up and let her look out the window.
I had to recruit Ryan to help get her attention to take the picture at the top.

Paige has also gotten way better at eating food.  I just started letting her eat our table food that she would reach for, and now she eats everything - rice cereal, baby food, pasta, chicken, she's even eaten grilled cheese sandwich.  Her favorites are applesauce, bananas, and teddy grahams.

Since getting her teeth we've had a few problems with her biting us, and pretty much anything else she can get her hands on, but she's gotten a little better, and now she usually just blow raspberries which is adorable. We just love this little girl!

Bath Time and Crawling

We gave Paige her first bubble bath last week.  She was a little freaked out by the bubbles at first.  But she got used to them after a while.
And she liked playing with her brother.
I took this video over a week ago and I am finally getting around to posting it.  Paige can crawl now!  It's this  little timid crawl, she goes really slow and carefully.  It is so cute!  She still does it over a week later.  It's nice because she goes slow enough that I can move what she's crawling towards if it's not something I want her to have.  We haven't really baby proofed yet.  She falls right at the beginning of the video; she doesn't really fall anymore, but I think it's so funny and cute in the video.

And here she is, so proud of herself that she got the car.
We are all loving this stage that she is in.  She's mobile and likes to play and interact more and it's a lot of fun!

Easter

We had a lot of fun this Easter.  It was a little busy, but we had a good time.  We started out our Easter festivities on Friday night with a little get together and egg hunt with some of our preschool and church friends.  I made these cute little taco cups that I saw on pinterest.  They were pretty easy and delicious.
 We ate some yummy food...
And then the kids hunted for eggs.
Then on Saturday morning we went to the YMCA pancake breakfast and egg hunt like we did last year.  We met up with some friends and the kids had fun finding eggs together.
I was going to dye Easter eggs with Lucas this year, but I decided it might still be a little too messy for him.  Instead I made egg shaped sugar cookies and we decorated them with frosting.
And then we had fun eating them.
Then on Sunday morning Lucas and Paige had fun checking out their Easter baskets.  I love how sleepy both of the kids look
I got this pink fluffy basket from my mom years ago, and now I finally have a little baby girl to appreciate it.
Lucas gave his first talk in church on Sunday.  He was assigned to talk about Jesus being our savior.  He was a little shy, but he did a really good job.  My dad came up to go to church with us and to see Lucas give his talk, and then came over for dinner afterwards.  We had a lot of yummy food, and we had strawberries and whipped cream over homemade pound cake for dessert,  It was delicious!  He's some pictures of me and the kids in our cute Easter clothes.
Ryan had the day off of work yesterday so we got to have an even longer weekend.  We went bowling and Lucas thought it was SO much fun!  They turned on their fun party lights and music and we had a blast.  It was a really fun and exciting weekend, and we had a good time being together as a family.
