Fireworks

We were camping over the 4th of July so we didn't get to see or set off any fireworks. To make up for it we got together with some friends and set off fireworks for Pioneer Day. This was Lucas's first real experience with fireworks and he had a lot of fun. We started off with some pop-it's and he got the hang of those pretty fast. He loved throwing them but thought it was even more fun to step on them and make them pop. Next we showed him some ground spinner ones and he was a little unsure of those, but still excited. We finished up the night by showing him some sparklers.

Then we put him to bed and the grown-up's played with the sparklers.

Our Little Trouble Maker

Lucas is getting pretty good at getting into trouble, now that he can walk and climb. He's getting fast too, so he can run away when he knows he's in trouble. He's always getting into the cabinets. We have a few that we can't child lock. I was making lunch a few days ago and I turned around to find this.
He's always getting into my purse, too. He loves the credit cards. He also knows there are snacks in there.
He loves to climb on his Mater, which always worries me. He's gotten himself into some precarious positions.
Some more of his silly antics...

And he's gotten a little violent lately. I don't know what the bubbles did to deserve this...

Even still, though, not a day goes by where I don't say at least 50 times, "I just love this little boy." He is so funny, and smart, and sweet. He really does have his own little personality and he knows how to make people laugh. He is very affectionate too. He's always coming up and giving me hugs. The other day I was watching TV and the people on there were kissing. Lucas walked right up to me and gave me a kiss. Whenever I give Ryan a kiss goodbye, Lucas starts smacking his lips and walks up to us to get his kiss. It's adorable.

He always amazes me with how fast he picks up on things. He's starting to talk so much, most of it is gibberish as you can see from this video.

But he does know quite a few words. He can say hi, and he says it to everyone: people in the store, people he knows, and his favorite - the camera.

And he loves to talk on the phone. He'll pick up pretty much anything electronic looking, tuck it between his ear and shoulder, and say,"Hello". It cracks me up every time. In this video, he had just discovered the stud finder.

He also will try to say just about anything. The other day I got him to say turtle, and make monkey sounds and bark. While I was changing his diaper he started pointing to his belly button so I told him what it was called and he's been trying to say it ever since. He's actually gotten pretty close a few times, but when ever I pull out the camera he is hesitant to perform. This is the best we have so far, it's not very good, but it's what usually comes out when he's trying to say things.

He's getting very good at mimicking us. If I start singing, he starts singing. If we laugh, he laughs. If we make noises into the fan...

This is definitely a fun age and we really are loving every day of it.

Newest Craft Project

I found this adorable fabric and decided I needed to make a baby girl blanket.

So I got a few other fabrics, and a soft, white minky fabric for the back. I'm just piecing it together right now but I'm so excited.

It almost makes me wish I had a newborn baby girl to wrap in it.... almost. :)

Bike Trailer

Lucas got this bike trailer for his birthday, but I completely forgot to put up pictures before. He was a little hesitant about it at first but he loves it now.

First Ride

After his first ride - he was so sleepy

Today - he LOVES it!

Eagle Lake

We just got back from a camping trip with almost all of my family and a lot of extended family. We went to a place called Eagle Lake in northern California. It's kind of a tradition and this is the fourth time I've been, second time Ryan has been, and the first time for Lucas. Let me tell you, he was in heaven!
He loved being outside and walking around in the dirt and pine cones. He started talking so much on this trip, he would just walk around and talk gibberish, non stop. One morning when he woke up and we walked out of the tent he got this huge smile on his face. I think he was just happy to still be outside.

We also discovered some new favorites. He loves playing in the sand...

And water...
Especially with uncle Christian.

We also discovered that Lucas likes watermelon. He probably ate 4 or 5 pieces by himself.

We really enjoyed spending time at the beach with family.

Lucas especially loved to play with his cousins.

We had lots of fun, but the trip had to come to an end. Lucas helped us pack up and go.

And he was nice to mommy and daddy and did really well on the trip home. We always enjoy camping, but enjoy our beds a lot more when we get home.
