Lucas Loves Ramen

Lucas's new favorite food is Ramen.  I made it one day for lunch because I actually like to eat Ramen too and Lucas decided he wanted some and he ended up eating more than I did.  I make it nearly every day for him now.  He can eat the whole thing by himself.  Since he's been a picky eater for like the past 6 months, this is a huge achievement.  Not that Ramen is the most balanced meal, but we'll take it.  He's pretty cute when he eats it too.
In other random Lucas news, he likes to ride down his slide in a cardboard box.  I don't even know where he got this idea but one day he put the box up there, climbed in, and went down the slide.  He was pretty proud of himself for figuring it out.
He tried to put his pajamas on by himself the other day and this is what happened.  I crack up every time I see this picture.
And last but not least, this is what Lucas was doing while I was writing this post.

Really Blogger?

I hate those word verification things.  Apparently I am part robot because I can't ever get them right.  And that was back when you only had to figure out like 5 letters.  Now it's like a whole paragraph.  I mean really, what does this even say?
And do that many people really have robots trying to comment on their blogs?  Maybe my blog is just not very interesting to robots, cause we don't have the word verification and I never get robots commenting.  Although, I will admit that I just googled these things to figure out what they were called (I know Ryan's brother knows, but I can't find it right now and I really only have like 3 minutes to dedicate to this post), anyway, there were quite a few people out there complaining about the word verification but they also said that they do get spam from robots so they can't turn it off.  Apparently some people do need it.

I just wish it wasn't so hard to pass the test.  When I have something super funny and witty to say and then after three tries of getting the word verification wrong it finally goes through... it just doesn't give me the same satisfaction.  Or even worse when I don't have something super witty to say, I was just commenting for the fun of it, but I can't get it to post so I usually just give up.  I wish robots would stop trying to rain on my parade; they ruin everything!

Exploratorium

Over President's Day weekend we went to check out the Exploratorium.  There was a lot more stuff for Lucas to do than I thought there would be.  He was allowed to touch and climb on pretty much everything.
He loved the distorted room and he ran around in there for a good 20 minutes.
We played with the bubbles.  Ryan got pretty good at making ones big enough to surround Lucas.
Lucas tried to do it too.  I think the bubbles were his favorite.
There was a duck pond outside the Exploratorium.  Lucas loved watching the ducks.  He refused to look at the camera for a picture because he didn't want to miss one second of looking at them.
He and daddy chased the ducks for a long time.
And then he finally agreed to take a picture with mommy to prove that I was actually there.
We had a lot of fun there.  We will definitely be going back again soon.

Happy Valentine's Day

I made some Valentine's Decor a week or so ago.  I've been wanting to make this cherry blossom wreath for a while and I thought it would look cute for Valentine's day.
I thought it was still a bit early for cherry blossoms and stuff, but apparently not judging by the tree outside our house.  Someone forgot to tell the tree that it's still February.  I'm not complaining, though.
I also made these cute candle decorations.  I just used candles we already had and covered them with festive paper.  I used my silhouette to make the heart/flower cutouts on the red paper.
A few days ago, Lucas and I did some finger painting to make a pretty picture for daddy for Valentine's day.   We're going to have to do this activity more often cause he really liked it.
And it wouldn't be Valentine's day without sugar cookies.  Lucas helped me roll out the dough.
And cut out the cookies.
Yum!
I love these cookies, and I love Valentine's day.  I hope you are all having a good day and cherishing the wonderful people you have in your life.

Visit to the Fire Station

Last week Lucas and I went to take a tour of one of the Livermore fire stations with some of our play group friends.  It was so much fun.  The fireman that was doing the tour was really good with the kids and he did a great job of explaining everything to them.  He even put on all of his gear in front of the kids so that they could see it was still him underneath all the scary looking stuff.  Then all the kids got to climb into the fire truck for a bit.  Before we left we got a group shot in front of the fire truck with their firemen hats.
Lucas looks so cute in his hat and he likes to wear it around the house.

Another fun thing about this specific fire station is that it has the Centennial light bulb that has been going for 110 years.  Someone hand made this lightbulb special for the fire department and it's still going over 100 years later.  The story is cooler than the bulb, though.  The bulb is pretty dim and not very exciting looking.

Little Photographer

Lucas has been so interested in cameras lately.  He either wants me to take pictures of him doing stuff, or he wants to take the pictures.  He also has been pretending to put his toys to bed.  It's cute to see him use the same routine we use to put him to bed.  The other day he asked me to take pictures of him putting puppy to bed.

He read puppy a book...
And said prayers and sang him songs...
And then he always says, "good night", and closes the door.  He lets puppy sleep for about 2 minutes and then he goes in and wakes him up with some fruit snacks.  We do not do the wake up with fruit snacks part, but maybe Lucas is trying to send us a message.

Here he is covered with blankets.  I'm not sure why but he wanted me to take a picture of this.
Here are some of Lucas's better attempts at taking pictures.
But most of them just look like this.
I've been letting him play with an old camera where the flash still works but I took out the memory card.  It's funny to see what he chooses to take pictures of.  He got a shot of himself peeing once... sometimes I wish I had left the memory card in there.
