Deck the Halls

We set up the Christmas tree and other decorations this Sunday evening. I love setting up the Christmas tree. It always makes me so happy. Lucas seemed to enjoy it too.

Lucas has been posing and saying cheese for the camera lately. It cracks me up.

And here is the tree in all its glory.

I put up the decorations on the tv stand too. I'm so glad I made these blocks!

Here's a close up of the snowflakes since they are kinda hard to see.

And I put the wreath on the door.

After all the decorating we made the traditional cinnamon rolls and ate them in front of the tree.

We're so excited for Christmas!!

Happy Anniversary

Ryan and I celebrated our fourth anniversary this weekend. We dropped Lucas off with his cousins for the night. We thought it was going to be a big ordeal to get out the door, but Lucas took off to play with the kids and never looked back. Then we headed up to Park City to stay at the Chateau at Silver Lake in Deer Valley.

The room was very nice. We loved the fireplace.

We got all checked in and then we went to get dinner. Every once in a while we like to get something really fancy, but this year we just decided to go to this little place on Main street called Red Banjo Pizza. It was SO good and so cheap. Yeah, we're classy like that.

Then we headed back to the hotel. We passed the Stein Eriksen on our way up and the entrance was all lit up and pretty so I took a picture. We stayed there on our first anniversary, so going to park city has kind of become a tradition.

Another tradition of ours is Red Grape Welches sparkling cider. My mom put some in the food basket that she packed for us to take to the hotel on our honeymoon.

I decided that I love park city. It is just so pretty up there. Especially this time of year. Snow everywhere and Christmas lights and decorations. It is seriously magical.

We went and got breakfast at the hotel the next morning. It was delicious.

This was our view out of the window while we were eating. So pretty!

Then we headed back to Salt Lake to pick up Lucas. He was very happy to see us. He did so well over night, though. I think we're going to have to do this more often.

My New Favorite

We got these thermals for Lucas on black Friday. They are my new favorite. They are cute jammies.
And they double as a top for a cute outfit.

What a stud! Speaking of stud, look how cute he is with a part in his hair.

Hair Cut

I did it. I got bangs. I guess it's not that daring cause they aren't that obvious, but after having the same hair cut for so long, it was a bit scary. I think they look pretty good.

Happy Thanksgiving

We have had a really good Thanksgiving this year. We spent the day with Ryan's family, stuffing ourselves with delicious turkey and gravy. I LOVE turkey! We played some games, watched some movies, and just relaxed by the fire. I made Ryan bring the camera but somehow we only got one picture. Lucas loved eating his fish by the fire.

We have so much to be thankful for. We have a wonderful little baby boy, he brings us so much happiness. And we have a lot of loving extended family too. I don't know how I lucked out to have such a great family of my own, and in-laws that I love.

We have a nice warm apartment to live in; it has been so cold these last few days so we're really grateful for that. On that same note, we're thankful for the heated seats in our car. Best Invention Ever!!

We're thankful for all the blessings we've received with Ryan's research, and now entering the job market. There have been so many things that have worked out perfectly for us, we really feel like we've been led and guided to where we are in our lives right now.

We're healthy, we're happy, and we have the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives. We hope you all had a great Thankgiving too.

Thanks

Ryan did finally make it back almost 24 hours later than he was supposed to. Lucas was so happy to see him.
He climbed right up into his lap and just cuddled. Lucas isn't a big cuddler so Ryan was really happy.

And then 5 minutes later he fell asleep.

Cutest thing I've seen all week. This is one of the things I'm thankful for.

Sleepy Boy

Today while I was getting dressed and doing my hair, Lucas was playing in his room and reading books. After a while I couldn't hear him anymore so I went in to make sure he wasn't burning the house down, and this is what I found.

He was just a sleepy little boy. He fell asleep an hour earlier than I usually put him down for his nap, and he slept an hour longer than he usually does. Thanks Lucas.

Our Life Lately

Ryan has been really busy lately with his research. He has a conference coming up next week and he's still collecting data that he needs to present. Usually he's able to come home and have dinner with us and then go back up onto campus, but one night last week Lucas and I had dinner alone. We made the best of it and cooked up some shrimp.

Lucas has discovered a new favorite seat. He loves to sit in the laundry basket. Especially when it's filled with warm clothes fresh from the dryer.

When the basket is empty he still likes to climb in, but then he has a hard time getting out without tipping the basket over. So, he'll climb into the basket and then whine for me to come get him out, and then 10 seconds later he'll be in the basket again whining for me to help him out. I don't know what to do with him sometimes.

We've also been practicing our Guitar Hero lately. Lucas is pretty good.

I feel like we've been so busy lately but I have nothing to show for it. I guess maybe that's just Ryan's schedule rubbing off on me. We're getting really excited for the upcoming holiday's, though. We have our anniversary, then Thanksgiving, then our little vacation, and then as soon as we get back from Austin we leave for Christmas in California. The rest of our year is very packed, but it's packed with excitement. Life is good right now. I feel like I'm getting excited for Christmas a lot earlier this year than normal. I find myself singing Christmas songs to Lucas when I put him to bed. I think they are his favorite. :)

Bangs

I want to get my hair cut, and I've been really bored with my hair lately. What do you think about some bangs? Yes or No?

Also, If you've ever thought about making your own blog background, you can check out this tutorial I made to get started.

We're Going on Vacation

Okay, maybe just I'm going on vacation - Ryan is going for a job interview. Ryan has been interviewing with companies lately and now comes the second interviews. One of Ryan's top choices, National Instruments, is flying him out to Austin, Texas for a second interview on December 17th. They are also flying me and Lucas out and putting us up in a hotel for three nights so we can spend some time in Austin and decide if it's somewhere we'd like to live. So far they are making a pretty good impression.

Ryan's brother and his family live in Austin so we'll get to spend some time with them while we're there. I'm also planning on spending some time at the hotel pool because it's a sunny 74 degrees there right now and outside my door is a blustery 37 degrees. And it might snow tomorrow. Come December we'll be welcoming the warm weather with open arms. Any ideas on what we should do while we're there?

I finally got around to finishing my fall decorations. I know it's a little late, but at least I can still enjoy them for a few more weeks.

This is my thriftiest decoration. Lucas and I gathered these nuts while we were on a walk.

And here is the whole display. The blocks are what took the longest. I made them with some friends and we had scheduling conflicts. They are well worth the wait, though.
