Paige's 6 Month Pictures

We went and took some pictures at JC Penny last week.  I ended up getting the membership because it was the same price as what I would have had to pay for the sitting fee, except sitting fees are free with a membership.  Anyway, you can expect to see more like this in the coming year. I mostly just wanted 6 month pictures for Paige, since we did them at 6 months for Lucas, but I decided it would be nice to get a few nice shots of Lucas.  And since I'm always the one holding the camera when I take pictures at home, I decided I wanted to be in at least one of the pictures.  The pictures turned out pretty cute.  Here's some of the proofs from online.
Paige was a little weirded out by the camera lady so I didn't get as many huge smiles as I wanted, but they are still some pretty good shots.  We're going to have to have Ryan come next time and we'll get a family picture.

Spring

It has been feeling like spring for a while now here in California, but yesterday was particularly beautiful so I took some pictures while we were at the park.
Check out the pretty flowering trees in the background.  Despite Lucas's outfit, it was actually really warm outside.  He just can't seem to get his clothing choices to line up with the weather.
This park is one of our favorites because of the really tall slide.
And look who has been trying to stand up lately.  She's just showing off her cute new skirt.
At the beginning of February we planted some seeds in the backyard with Lucas.
Paige watched from her Bumbo.  Shows you how much has changed in the last two months.
 Here's his seeds sprouting...
We haven't gotten any flowers yet, but Lucas loves to peek out the window to see how his plants are doing. I love this time of year!!

Army Crawl

Paige is getting so close to crawling.  She does a pretty good army crawl, and I'm guessing she'll be full on crawling in a couple days.  She's just been getting better and better every day.  We were trying to get her to crawl one night, and she wasn't interested in any of the toys we were trying to entice her with, and then Lucas pulled out this book for me to read it to him, and we had to keep moving because Paige was going crazy trying to get the book.
She LOVES this book for some reason.  And here's a video of the army crawl.

We've been trying out more foods lately to get Paige eating.  She loves breads and crackers.  Yesterday she had some whole wheat toast and berry smoothie with me for breakfast.  She just sucks on the bread until it's mushy enough for her to swallow.  She has also tried graham crackers and apple slices.  She actually eats the graham crackers, but she mostly just chews on the apples.  I really think she might be getting her top teeth in right now, so the cold hard apple slices feel good to her gums.
And now that Paige is sitting up so well, she has been having fun sitting on the Mater.  Lucas likes sharing until Paige starts trying to suck on everything, which is like two seconds after we put her on.  Oh well, he'll get over it.  This is around the age that Lucas got the Mater for Christmas.

Picky Eaters

I tried giving Paige solid foods about a month ago and she liked it the first two times, and then she decided she didn't want anything to do with it at all.  Now she gags on it and refuses to even try.  And don't even get me started on bottles, she won't even look at one without freaking out.  Which isn't too big a deal, except for I've been having some milk supply problems and she's really cranky and hungry when my supply is low, and I want to be able to give her something to eat, but she won't cooperate.  She's always grabbing at my plate and trying to eat my food, and she liked taking sips of my smoothie last week, but I felt like I needed to stick to the traditional rice cereal and baby food for the first little while.  Well, I took her to her 6 month doctors appointment today and the doctor said if she wants smoothies and food off the table, to go for it.  He said to give her bits of berries and pasta and veggies.  He even told me to try giving her tiny bits of ground up hamburger and chicken.  Pretty sure the doctor had a momentary lapse in memory and forgot that she's only 6 months old, but I don't care, I'm going to go for it anyway.  I made Paige a berry and yogurt smoothie, and she drank like 2 ounces of it through a straw.  Who needs bottles anyway!
Now I just need to start adding veggies and rice cereal to the smoothies and I think we'll be in business.  Lucas is a picky eater too and he loves smoothies.  Looks like I just need to look up some good recipes.

Teeth

I knew it!!  I've been feeling her gums every day because I just knew she was teething and sure enough, last night her first tooth broke through, followed by her second this morning.  No wonder she's been a little fussy lately.  You might not be able to see them that well in this picture, but they are there.
I think she's hurrying up so she can have some of our food.  She's been grabbing at our plates for a while now and she's sick of getting turned down.  Two more teeth and I'll give you a cookie, Paige.

6 Months

Paige is just starting to try to crawl.  I decided to show you in pictures rather than a video (I'll do a video when she can crawl for real and it's not so boring to watch).  She starts out by finding her target...the camera strap...
Then she pulls her chubby little legs underneath herself
But can't figure out where to go from there...
And she usually ends up scooting herself backwards, or toppling to the side...
It makes her pretty frustrated... until mommy caves and just gives her what she was after.
 Success!!

Paige also can drink through a straw.  We found this out kind of by accident.  I was drinking something and Paige grabbed it and got the straw into her mouth.  I decided to let her chew on it for a second because she was so proud of herself, and she actually got some drink through the straw.  I have since given her a few things like smoothies and water, and she loves drinking from a straw.  Here she is drinking a homemade vanilla bean frappuccino, Lucas's new favorite and probably now Paige's.
I can't believe our little girl is already 6 months old.  She seems so huge to me, but she's pretty average as far as percentile goes.  She has been super drooly for months now, but lately it seems like she's been chewing on things a little more, and is a little fussier than usual when she gets tired.  I wouldn't be surprised if one of her teeth popped through any day now.  She's growing up so fast, but we're having fun with her and we love her more every day.
