Here is the finished product.
And here is a close up of the binding. I used a cool leafy stitch on the edges.
On Saturday Ryan and I went to 3 different stores to look at crib mattresses. After hours of going through and looking at them we picked out the one we wanted only to find out it was out of stock. They called the store up in Salt Lake and they were out of stock too, and there weren't any in the warehouse and they had no idea when they would be getting more. I was so sad. I had finished the quilt and I was really excited to finish putting the bed all together. Plus we had a coupon and I had no idea if they would be getting more mattresses in stock in time for us to use the coupon.
My wonderful husband called around to different stores today to try and find the mattress. He finally found one at the store up in Salt Lake that had been on hold for someone on Saturday when we were trying to buy it, but they never came to get it so the store put it back on the shelf. Ryan had it put on hold and drove all the way up to Salt Lake just to get the mattress for me. When I got home from work I had a surprise waiting for me. I was so shocked and excited! We put the sheets and quilt on the bed right away. Here's the picture of the finished crib, with all our baby's stuffed animals waiting for him.
Thank you so much Ryan. I love you!

Way to go, Ryan. And, Katie, you did a great job on the quilt! This baby is so lucky to have both of you.
That turned out so great! Those corners are AMAZING :) And I like the leafy stitch...I'm glad it worked!!
Now that is a really sweet husband...not to mention he has really helped us out too:) Thanks Ryan

That quilt you made is beautiful! Your crib looks great all set up. What a thoughtful husband you have!
I have to admit that Ryan gets brownie points for surprising you with the mattress. Your quilt is REALLY cute. Are you sure this is the first quilt you've ever made?? I like the shiny binding on the edges and I really like the colors that you chose. Can't wait to see it in real life!
That crib is completely adorable. And I love that quilt, it's so cute! Ps I like that the little donkey guy made it into the crib too :)
The quilt is beautiful! Nice work! And looks like you did a good job picking a husband, too..
Wow, I can't even imagine sewing my own quilt. You're talented, I'm not. That's why I just hired a lady to make me my own quilt.
You guys are really on top of things, cute crib too. I love the dark wood. Unfortunately, ours will be a hand-me-down.
Cute cute blanket Katie. I'm super impressed with your sewing skillz.
I agree, Ryan is the best, well I can't say husband, but I will say friend.
Katie! I haven't commented on your blog for awhile...you look fantastic by the way. Just all cute as ever. Poor Ryan getting roped into your nesting with the wallpaper and painting and mattress. Aren't husbands amazing once we get preggers? I convinced Keith to help me repaint our whole rented apartment. Poor guy. Your nursery looks fantastic! Great job! And I love your quilt that you made.
