Field Trip to the Grocery Store

We went on a preschool field trip to Safeway a few weeks ago. The safety inspector was there that day so they didn't get to take us into the back to see all the really cool stuff, but the kids had just as much fun going to all the different counters and getting free samples of stuff.

The top selling cheese at the deli counter is apparently Munster cheese.  Who knew?  The produce guy told us all about how to pick out the ripe fruits and veggies. And at the meat counter the kids were pretty impressed by the whole crabs, (that's what they are staring at in this picture), and we got some crab meat as a free sample - my favorite part.
They all got to take home a balloon.  Here's the whole group with only about 3 of them actually looking at the camera. It's hard with kids this age, especially when they have balloons to play with.

What a fun field trip! Too bad you didn't get to go behind the scenes but I bet the kids had plenty of fun anyway.

Ha, I love that group picture that looks totally candid except for the part where they are standing in a line. :) That is a lot of kids to manage in the grocery store!

Grocery store field trips are so much fun. Remember the one we went on when you were in school? Glad you had a fun time. Wish I could get a free sample of crab meat!
