Big Basin Birthday

I had a birthday last week so we decided to do something fun over the weekend.  We drove to San Jose to meet up with my parents and then continued on to Big Basin.  We thought it would be fun to hike around, see the pretty trees, and let Lucas run free.  Unfortunately it was the coldest and rainiest day we've had in a while.  Here's me and Paige all bundled up at the beginning of the hike.
She wasn't a fan of the cold and rain, but she got over it after a while.  Lucas didn't seem to mind it much at all.  He had a fun time climbing all over the huge trees.
There were lots of cool ones to walk through.
This was close to the end of the hike.  Lucas was starting to get cold and we all looked pretty wet and pathetic.
It was a really pretty area.  I was sad the weather wasn't really ideal for the trip, but everyone was a good sport about it.  The drive took quite a while and made Ryan a little car sick, but hopefully I can convince him to do it again next summer so we can explore a bit more.  When we got back to my parent's house we had some yummy hot cocoa and then Ryan and I left the kids with my parents and we went to a teppanyaki place for dinner.  It was yummy and it was nice to have a night to ourselves.  Thanks again mom and dad.

That would be nice to have mom and Dad close by to babysit whenever you need them. I'm glad you got to do something fun for your birthday

We went to big basin 2 years ago at Christmas and it was cold and rainy then too! Maybe it's like that in December. You should definitely go in the summer. Happy Birthday!

The pictures all turned out nice--but it WAS a pretty rainy day. Still, I always enjoy a trip to Big Basin because it is so beautiful there. Maybe we can go there in the summer and camp. That would be fun!
