We took a trip to San Diego over Thanksgiving weekend to take advantage of the free day off of work, and to celebrate our anniversary. We've been married for 5 years now. We thought a vacation with our little family was the perfect way to celebrate our life together up till now. The first day we went to Sea World. Lucas actually had a lot more fun than we thought he would. The first stop was at the playground in the middle of the park. Not really anything to do with sea creatures, but it made Lucas happy.
As I said before, Lucas loves fish. He REALLY loved the big fish! He just sat and stared for a long time when we saw whales and other large creatures.I love this one. He was staring at a walrus up in the corner and another one swam right by him.
He liked the polar bears and kept wanting to go back and see them. The display of polar bear stuffed animals was just too much excitement for him and he had to jump in.
Ryan and Lucas looking at the penguins.
There were a lot of pretty fish to look at.
We took a ride on the gondola ride and got to see some pretty views.
Then we stopped for lunch at this cute little spot. I think Lucas's face is funny here. He was trying so hard to look and smile at the camera.
Touching the star fish.
Our last activity at Sea World was watching the Shamu Show. We were worried that Lucas wouldn't really care about it and would want to run around and harass all the other people there and we'd have to leave; but he loved watching the killer whales jump out of the water and splash their tails around. We sat at the top of the splash zone so we had a great view, and we didn't get wet. Perfect!
The next day we went to the zoo. The zoo was huge, almost too big, and Lucas wanted to push his stroller so we had some issues trying to get around. We decided to do the guided bus tour after 10 minutes of Lucas ramming other people with the stroller. It was fun and we got to see a lot of the park that way. After the tour we had lunch and then went around to the parts of the zoo that we wanted to see more of.
Lucas loved petting the goats.
This monkey had such a funny grumpy face I had to get a picture.
We finished up at the zoo just as it was closing and hopped back in the car to drive home. We stopped off in LA at Cafe Rio for dinner. Oh how we miss Cafe Rio. Our vacation was a quick little trip, but we had a blast.

It looks like you guys had such a great time!! I love how Lucas is really starting to get old enough to love things like Sea World and the Zoo. I also love the grumpy face monkey - haha. :)
Great pictures! Looks like you guys had a wonderful time. We went on a vacation to Sea World and the San Diego zoo many years ago. I love both those places. Lucas is adorable, as always. Glad you had fun. That monkey is really funny with his grumply face.
It looks like you had a great time at some very fun places. It is fun that Lucas is old enough to enjoy it now. That is cool that you found a Cafe Rio.
