Most of you have probably heard by now, but he's here. Lucas Ryan George was born on Sunday, May 24th at 3:59 am. He weighed 8 lbs 3oz, and was 19 inches long. On Saturday morning at 6am I started having contractions. I got up and did the laundry and packed the hospital bag and got everything ready. Around 10am I decided the contractions were getting pretty bad (I had no idea) and close together so we left for the hospital. After being there for an hour or so they decided I wasn't progressing enough and sent me home. By this point the contractions were getting worse so I begged for some drugs. With a shot of morphine, I was able to take a nap and relax at home for a while. Then we went to the store and got a bunch of last minute baby things that we hadn't gotten before. While we were at the store the morphine started to wear off and the contractions got really bad so I made Ryan take me to the hospital again. He kept trying to distract me with other things before we went back to the hospital, cause he was worried they would turn us away again, but I was getting pretty grumpy by this point and wouldn't let him. We got back to the hospital at about 8 pm and they gave me some more morphine while they were checking me out trying to decide if I was progressed enough to let me stay. This morphine did absolutely nothing for the pain but luckily they decided that I was far enough along to give me the epidural. Once the epidural kicked in, I was feeling much better and I napped off and on for the next few hours. Ryan didn't have the luxury of drugs so he was wide awake and in an uncomfortable chair the whole time. Around 11 pm they broke my water but things didn't progress exactly as the doctor had hoped. Eventually we found out that was because Lucas was facing the wrong direction so his head didn't fit quite right. At 2pm I started pushing but Lucas's heart rate was getting too high and the doctor realized that he was turned the wrong way and that was making it difficult to push him out. He had to get out the forceps and try to turn Lucas. He was worried that it wouldn't work and we'd have to do a c-section, but everything went very smoothly and the doctor got him turned. The nurses said they had never seen a turn go so well. We were very lucky. Lucas was such a calm baby when he was born, he didn't cry that much, but he was breathing just fine. He was just really interested in everything around him. I was very impressed at how well Ryan did during the delivery too. Ryan doesn't like blood or hospitals and I was really worried he was going to pass out during the delivery, but he stood there the whole time and did a great job. The nurses had to go and get him some sprite at one point cause he started to look pale, and he looked at the placenta afterwards, bad idea, but other than that he did great.
Lucas and I came home from the hospital last night. We're both doing really well and so far things are going great. I have a lot of family in town and my mom is staying with us to help out. Hopefully we'll get the hang of this parents thing in no time.

He is so little and adorable! I can't wait to see him. I'm pretty sure I just have allergies, but I'm going to wait a couple more days to make sure it isn't a cold before I visit...though I am going to Montana on Monday, so it might be after that. :( I'm so excited for you guys!

He is really cute! Good job you two:) Hope you can both get some rest and not stress out too much. Enjoy laying on your tummy again Katie!
My worst nightmare has become having a C-section. I'm pretty sure that once the words, "We're going to do a cesarean..." I'll vomit and beg to be put down like a dog. I'm happy you didn't have to be put down like a dog and that Lucas looks so good!
congrats! You finally have your baby!
Congrats!!!! He's totally cute!!! I think he looks like a cuter version of Ryan ;) So so so cute and fun that Lucas and Ezra will be so close in age. Congrats again and try to get some sleep!!!
What a cute kid! You guys said Ezra has a lot of hair, but Lucas has just as much if not more. I'm mostly worried about the hair on Ezra's back :) Keep posting pics, I'm sure he is changing everyday.
